2019 REFLECTIONS BEFORE THE SCHOOL YEAR ENDS

The school year is about to end and I can’t help but reflect on all the ups and downs I have experienced this year.  Before every year ends, I like to spend some time reflecting on everything that has occurred in the year.  It helps me to plan better for the coming year looking at all aspects of my life – including friendships, academics, family and finances.

2019 has not been an easy year for me personally; I have lost friendships, my dog and some family members. In January I lost my dog, Sweetie, to the cold icy hands of death. She was a close companion who kept my spirit up every time I was down.  Her death was unexpected and it shook me to the core.

I also lost friends over silly arguments that did not benefit anyone. I love making friends, therefore, it hurts me a great deal when I feel disconnected from a friend over mundane arguments. But I am not giving up on reconciling with my lost friends yet, I intend to use this festive period to mend all broken friendships.

I know people will say I should give up on my friends and not bother with reconciliation; after all, I will make new ones.  Nonetheless, I think it is a dangerous practice to simply “cancel” people due to disagreements.  Having disagreements with others are normal human characteristics and it should not mar relationships with others. Therefore, before 2019 ends in a few weeks I am going make amends with all friends that I disagreed with.

I also experienced amazing high points that have kept me inspired for the year. All my hard work eventually paid off when I made fantastic grades at school this year and I intend to do even better in the coming year. I also learnt how to make dresses online during my spare time after school.

Furthermore, I also completed my reading list for the year. This is one of my biggest achievements this year because I was able to read all the books I have always wanted to read. I also saved a little on the side from the pocket money my parents give me every day.

Although 2019 has not been my best year, it has been amazing to some extent. I learnt a lot of lessons which I will take with me into the coming year.
