Archbishop Porter Girls beat three other schools in the Western Region in an awe-inspiring performance to grab a spot at the preliminary stages of the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
This victory is the beginning of an attempt to redeem themselves after they lost to St.John’s school during the single-elimination contest in 2019.
Despite pundits’ prediction of a close contest between the girls and their Sekondi neighbours, Sekondi College (Sekco), Porters proved to be too much for their opponents to chew.
As the competition progressed, it was clear that Porters Girls had one mission in mind and that was to earn a place at the national stage.
This is the first qualifier for schools in the Western Region. It is hoped that this victory will inspire other schools in the Western Region to grab more spot as the competition progress.
In the end, the final scores stood at; Porters – 46 points, Sekondi College – 18 points, Shama SHS – 10 points, Daboase SHTS – 9 points and Gwiraman SHS – 7 points.
