GHANAIAN MAN INVENTS A SOLAR-POWERED MOTION SENSOR HANDWASHING DEVICE

Ennin Black, a graduate of Christian Service University, Kumasi, has invented a solar-powered automated tap to encourage people to wash their hands to prevent catching the coronavirus.

Solar Wash, is a motion-sensor device which when triggered discharges liquid soap and water into a user’s palm. It is self-timed for 20 seconds which is approximately the recommended time required for a person to wash their hands.

The device also has an alarm system which aids the user to know the time of each discharge.

After the flow of water has been triggered it flows automatically for 20 seconds and stops until it is triggered again

Although Hand washing has been suggested to be one of the ways by which people could prevent catching the deadly virus, a major concern has been to reduce the rate at which people came in contact with the tap knob. Therefore, Mr. Black‘s invention is designed to also address that concern.

The motion-activated innovation which went viral on social media has been received by many as one of the most effective ways to encourage hand washing, which has been recommended by experts to be a hygienic way to curb the spread of the virus.

A user is, therefore, able to go through the process without touching any part of the device as the water flows from the barrel, decorated in the colours of Ghana’s flag, onto the user’s hand.

Speaking to Joy News, Mr . Black said he is happy he is contributing to battling the spread of the deadly virus through his invention. He further indicated that he hopes Solar Wash will be of great benefit to everyone.

Solar wash is ideal for market places, schools and other outdoor event centres
