GOOGLE DOODLE HONORS ESSENTIAL WORKERS

In appreciation of essential workers, tech giant, Google is running a “thank you coronavirus helpers” doodle series to show appreciation for helping to combat the deadly virus that is currently causing havoc in most countries around the world.

Essential services are the services and functions that are necessary, even during a pandemic. They help to maintain health and welfare during a crisis. Without these services, sickness, poverty, violence, and chaos would likely occur

“Over the next two weeks, our Doodles will honour other essential frontline workers, including healthcare workers, first responders, and the many people keeping services like sanitation, food service, public transit, schools, and more up and running. Thank you to all the people who are working to save lives and keep communities safe during this pandemic”, Google said in a statement on their blog.

About a week ago Google also released a moving add thanking health workers for their immense contribution to fighting the deadly coronavirus, thus this week’s doodle is a continuation of praise for all persons contributing their quota to saving the world.

Explaining further in a statement, Google said, “This week, we’re beginning a series of Doodles to recognize the many people responding to COVID-19 — from doctors and nurses caring for people on the front lines to teachers and food service workers ensuring essential goods and services are still available”

For each day,  there will be a different doodle honouring a different essential group of  workers such as doctors, nurses, truck drivers, food vendors etc

In the past, Google doodle was usually reserved for multi-week sporting events like the Olympics, World Cup and honouring late international celebrities.
