Government reduces fees of final year SHS students by half

The Ghana Education Service has announced a reduction in fees paid by final year Senior High School students. The fee has been reduced by fifty percent since they will complete their term earlier than usual.

The directive was given in a letter signed by Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, Director General of the Ghana Education Service addressed to all Regional Directors of Education.

The third term for the current academic year resumes on April 16, 2018 and ends on 20th July 2018, which is approximately 14 weeks. However, final year students are expected to be in school up till 1st June 2018, thereby reducing the period they will be in school from 14 weeks to 7 weeks.

Since they are spending half the term in school, government has decided to reduce the fees by half for all final students.

All Regional Directors are encouraged to comply strictly with the directive.
