HOW TO DISABLE THE CAPS LOCK KEY

The caps lock key is one of the many other keys found on a computer keyboard. It is usually located on the left side of the keyboard on most computers. It is a toggle key that causes all typed letters to be in upper case until it is disabled.

 The caps lock keys comes in handy when one needs type in upper case but it can also be frustrating to an unaware user when it is unintentionally clicked on.  I cannot count the number of times I have blocked my password as a result of mistakenly clicking on my caps lock keys.

Fortunately, there is a solution to prevent a repeat occurrence of mistakenly clicking on your caps lock key.  However, this tip involves editing your Windows Registry, a task that can render your PC unstable; also unable to boot up into windows if you make a mistake. Every step must be followed religiously in order not to make mistakes.

Step 1 – Create a System Restore Point. if you are not sure of what that is, kindly search for it  in your search box ( search  create system restore)

Step 2- Press the Windows +R key combination.

Step 3- Type regedit into the Run box and press the Enter key.

Step -4 Make a backup of the Registry by clicking File>Export, then giving the backup a name and clicking Save.

Step -5 5 – Navigate to this Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>CurrentControlSet>Control>Keyboard Layout

Step -6 Right-click in the right-hand pane and select New>Binary Value.

Step-7 – Name the new entry Scancode Map and press the Enter key.

Step-8 – Right-click on the new Scancode Map entry you just created and select Modify Binary Data.

Step 9 -Type the following into the text box (Copying and pasting is not allowed when editing the Registry):

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 3A 00 00 00 00 00

10 – Click Ok.

11 – Click File>Exit.
