LEARNING DISABILITIES IN CHILDREN

Learning disability is a common neurologically-based processing problem that usually occurs in children. It is is a condition in the brain that causes difficulties comprehending or processing information.  Children with this type of disability find it difficult to process basic information that their peers can easily process. Here is an article on another form of learning disability.

Learning disabilities can interfere with learning basic skills such as maths, reading and /or writing. It also could affect a child’s ability to learn a higher skill such as abstract reasoning, time management, long or short term memory and attention span.

It is not a lack of intelligence or motivation to learn. In an unformed society, people tend to consider children who suffer from a learning disability as not intelligent. This is entirely far from the case. A child who suffers from a type of learning disability might be good at maths and poor at learning languages. It is a problem that affects a person throughout the entire duration of their adult life

Dysgraphia is another learning disability that affects a person’s motor skills. Problems may include illegible handwriting, inconsistent spacing, poor spatial planning on paper, poor spelling, and difficulty composing writing as well as thinking and writing at the same time.

Language Processing Disorder is a specific type of Auditory Processing Disorder that affects a child ability to a attach meaning to sound groups that form words, sentences or stories. Auditory Processing Disorder affects the interpretation of all sounds coming into the brain. Language Processing Disorder, on the other hand, relates only to the processing of language.

ADHD is a disorder that includes difficulty focusing, paying attention, controlling behaviour and hyperactivity. Children who suffer from this disorder find it hard to focus or pay attention in class

Parents can help their child cope better with their disability by reading extensively on the type of disability that their child has. Knowledge is power. Accurate information could make a world of difference in your child’s life.

Furthermore, learn the best ways your child learn. Discovering how your child learns will help you know what learning methods to adopt for your child. It will also help you understand your child’s learning processes.

Although caring for a child who suffers from this sort of disorder can be trying and difficult. With the right information and research, parents can help their help manage and cope with the disorder.  Leaving with a learning disorder is never the end of the world, it takes a willing parent to make a difference in the life of a child.
