Legon student who posed as military officer to be arraigned in court

The 23-year-old student of the University of Ghana, Legon who was arrested in Kumasi for wearing a military uniform to pose as an officer at the Kumasi Airport is to be arraigned in court.

Sissey Ibrahim, who was arrested by the security detail of the Vice President had the military nametag “Zakari” affixed on his breast.

He exhibited suspicious movements and demeanor around the security detail at the airport and when he was queried, it was realized he was impersonating and was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Manhyia Police.

Briefing the media in Kumasi on Tuesday, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police, Mr Ken Yeboah, said Ibrahim confessed when the Vice President’s security detail interviewed him.

He said the suspect confessed to the police that the uniform belonged to his elder brother who was a military officer with the 5th Battalion of Infantry at Burma Camp but currently on peace keeping operations in Lebanon.
