LOCKDOWN SNACKS: HOW TO MAKE BOFROT

Treat your children to delicious snacks while they are at home being homeschooled. Below is a recipe for bofrot for parents to try their hands while they work and home school.

It is generally believed that the word “bofrot” is a corrupt version of another word, but there is little dispute as to what that word is. Some people say the right pronunciation is Puff Loaf/ BuffLoaf/Puff Floats/Bun Floats/Boflot.

However, regardless of what the correct pronunciation of the word is, here is the recipe for you and your family to try while you are on lockdown.

Ingredients:
-4 cups strong bread flour (thus 525g)
-2cup sugar ( 175g)
-3(7g) sachets of dried yeast.
-1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
-3 Tablespoon of butter
-1 teaspoon salt
-Veg oil for deep frying

Directions:
-Pour all dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix together.
-Add the butter and rub it in till well mixed
-Add about a cup of warm water
-Mix well, beating while mixing, the mixture should be runny, not hard.
-Cover the mixture for about half an hour for it to double in size. (That is how you will it is ready for frying)
-Heat vegetable oil on fire till hot. ( Ensure the oil is really hot otherwise, the bofrot might end up looking soggy)
-Stir the mixture and start scooping in a ball shape with fingers.
-Keep turning your ball for even frying time for all sides.
–Cooked when it turns golden brown.
-Repeat procedure till all fried and nicely done.
