NEW MONTH MOTIVATION : TAKE A CUE FROM RIHANNA AND LIZZO

The month of March is already here and if you are fretting over not achieving any of the goals you wrote down at the beginning of the year then it is time to say to yourself “relax it will happen”.

I have learnt to repeat these words to myself every waking day in order not to give up on my goals. It is easy to write down lengthy goals at the beginning of the year, but achieving those goals can be hard for most people.

Although one might have a solid plan and a well-written goal, life has a way of disrupting the process of attaining it. Often, to a point where one might not wish to continue chasing the goal anymore.   For some people, “Life happening”, could mean the loss of a loved one, lack of money, sickness, and other unforeseen circumstances.

When such things happen, one must be willing to continue to follow their dreams irrespective of the situation.  Personally, when I face such challenges, I stop, grieve (if the situation needs grieving), regroup and proceed to follow my dreams again. Sometimes I regroup by taking inspiration from two of my Favourite pop stars; Rihanna and Lizzo.

When everyone thought Rihanna’s career was over after she was battered by her then-boyfriend, she overcame the trauma and built a beauty empire for herself. Lizzo, on the other hand, smashed the billboard chart with hit song after hit song until she won several Grammys for herself. Note that about a year ago most people didn’t know who Lizzo was.

These two women have taught me never to give up on my goals until every single goal on the list is attained

Remember, it is absolutely normal to suffer setbacks in the pursuit of your dreams, but the onus is on you not to give up no matter what may come your way. Every goal requires hard work, dedication, resilience, consistency and a good plan to come to fruition.
