OWASS, ADISCO AND PRESEC, LEGON TO BATTLE IN NSMQ FINAL ON THURSDAY

Opoku Ware School, Adisadel College and PRESEC, Legon will lock horns in the grand finale of the National Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

The road to the Grand Finale began on September 8 as the preliminary stages of the competitions were held over two weeks. The seeded schools joined the schools that qualified from the preliminary stage on the University of Ghana campus to compete for the trophy. After thrilling contests, nine schools made it to the semi-finals to compete for the three final slots, out from which a school will emerge the champion.

In the first contest, Opoku Ware School and Accra Academy competed fiercely while the third school, Boa Amponsem got lost in the sauce. At the end, the Akatakyie boys ended Accra Academy’s dream of clinching their first NSMQ trophy. They won with an impressive 55 points, grabbing one of the three highly sought after slots in the grand finale.

The second contest was quite rip-soaring; it featured Adisadel College, Achimota School and Keta SHTS. At the end of the nail-biting contest, Adisadel College won by hair’s breath, beating Achimota School by just a point. The third contest was a five-finger exercise for the PRESEC Boys. They went up against Kumasi Academy and Aburi Presby SHTS and secured the third spot with 66 points.

A keenly contested grand finale is expected on Thursday and the men will be separated from the boys. The contest will be streamed live on the NSMQ Facebook and YouTube platforms.
