Parents Must Invest in Their Children’s Education

Parents have been charged to invest “heavily” in the education of their children to make life easier for their families in future.  Madam Eyonam Amafuga, Volta Regional Director of Education said quality education is the gateway to rapid socio-economic development of societies.

She said when children are educated, they are equipped with the “requisite skills, knowledge, attitude and acumen” to carry out duties effectively for the good of families and societies.

Madam Amafuga who was speaking at the 2018 graduation ceremony of Wallahs Academy in Ho, said education in the 21st century was confronted with rising cost and infrastructural limitations. She added that if parents do not reduce expenditure on certain activities, the education of their children would be jeopardized despite the effort of government.

The ceremony, which saw the graduation of 100 students, also marked the 10th anniversary of Wallahs Academy under the theme; “Ten years of quality and affordable private senior high education:  Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects.”

Mr. Rockson Dogbegah, Chairman, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Construction Sector, asked parents to find innovative ways of associating with teachers to help improve teacher-parent relationship towards academic excellence.

He also advised parents not to impose their dreams on children because it affects their ability to be creative and innovative.
