Earlier this month, Whatsapp which is used by more than 1.5 billion people worldwide as the go-to instant messaging platform announced a new deal with Google drive. Whatsapp over the years has grown into a robust solution for all communication needs including text, voice, video and also recently added video conferencing to its suite of tricks.
The deal involved google drive not deducting space used by a user’s whatsapp backup from their given 15gb free storage plan that comes with every Gmail account. Starting November 12, 2018 android users will be able to backup all their chats and media which will not count against their free 15gb package.
But what’s the catch? ; As an android user who wishes to have their whatsapp chat backup not deleted, there are a few measures to take to ensure you do not lose your dear backup; Users(automatic update dependent users included) will have to manually backup their whatsapp chat data before November 12 on google drive to prevent data from being deleted.
After manually backing up data, users will be able to enjoy free backups from November.
Go ahead and backup your chats manually unto google drive to prevent losing them.
